What is new in version 7?

Adroit 7.0 contains new features that provide for further compatibility with the Smart UI and other market driven enhancements, the main feature being the Advanced Alarm Management capability. There are many performance, security and other enhancements that are not spoken about and we just list the main market driven and user benefits that are coming out with the new product version.

DB Generator

DB Generator is a separate application that allows easy generation of Adroit WGP files from other formats such as PLC programming output files. It is a “plug-in” architecture so users can also develop their own sources of data for the DB Generator application. File formats supported for initial release will be:

The operation is a two-step process, import the file or browse the server and then process if need be and then generate the WGP. It supports the use of templates (not for OPC Server) so a complete Adroit WGP can be configured including alarming, scanning and logging.

SQL Express as an optional backend database

As an option users can install the SQL Express as the backend database for ver 7.0. SQL Express is a limited SQL Server limited to 2gb storage capacity. SQL Express offers faster retrieval than MS Access and is therefore a better option as a small system database for Alarm Management and Agent Server Auditing record storage. Should you later on require more capacity or are looking at centralizing your alarm management then a full SQL Server machine would be required.

Advanced Alarm Management

Inspired and based on the EEMUA-191 standards the Advanced Alarm Management in Adroit ver 7.0 is a great productivity enhancement. It brings the latest thinking around alarm management and process improvement to all Adroit customers. Simply define your alarming structure and routing then optionally add categories and sub-categories (typically plant and plant area) to these routes to configure your alarm management system. Place incidents into these categories. Each incident has a number of configurable properties; an optional delay before an incident is reported; an optional Boolean condition that must be met before an incident is reported; whether operators are required to specify a reason and a note for this alarm before it is removed from the ‘current incidents’ list and becomes a historical incident; optionally specify a list of tags whose values must also be recorded along with this incident.
